#BakingSodaDoesThat

There are some cases when using baking soda is not recommended. Just so you can be safe, I will list those situations when you should avoid using baking soda.
https://simplesolutions.socialmedialink.com/
Hair
- Improve the health of your hair after a build-up of sprays, serums, and mousses. Your hair can become sticky and have that limp appearance. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of baking soda into your regular shampoo. And then use that shampoo as usual.
- Baking soda is a great dry shampoo alternative. We’ve all experienced this: we oversleep in the morning, and we need a quick fix for refreshing our hair. Or for your after-workout hair wash. Sprinkle some baking soda onto your hair roots, tousle your hair, and then brush it through. Your hair will look presentable in a matter of seconds.
- If you have dandruff problems, baking soda can again help you. Instead of regular shampoo, sprinkle some baking soda on your wet scalp, and then massage it for few minutes. Do this for a week or two, and then go back to your regular shampoo.
- Clean your hairbrush in a matter of minutes. After a while, our hairbrush is filled with hair, and it’s only natural to find build-up toward the base of the bristles. All you need to do to remove all that hair from your hairbrush is to soak it in water with one teaspoon of baking soda. Let the brush soak for 20 minutes, rinse, and then let it dry on its own.
Face
- For your facial scrub as well as that deep-clean feeling, baking soda is one of the best alternatives. For your own exfoliating facial scrub, you’ll need water and baking soda. The ratio is 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Mix the ingredients and then rub it on your face. Use gentle, circular movements to massage your face, and then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Razor burns on the face can be painful and irritating. Not just on your face—women experience razor burns on their bikini area as well. And for your sensitive skin, I have a baking soda solution. You need one cup of water and one tablespoon of baking soda. Mix them, and then apply on your skin. Let the mixture dry on your skin for five minutes, and then rinse with cool water.
- If you want a smile like on those TV commercials, baking soda can help you. Use it as a tooth whitener: sprinkle it on your palm, dip a toothbrush in it, and brush for one minute. After brushing your teeth with baking soda, brush them with toothpaste. You should never use baking soda as a replacement for toothpaste.
- However, you can prepare your own toothpaste to remove plaque from your mouth. Add some baking soda to your toothpaste, or dip the toothbrush in baking soda a few times per week. Baking soda has abrasive qualities, and that is why you shouldn’t repeat the treatment often. Two or three days per month is more than enough.
- And if you need to clean your toothbrush, soak it in baking soda. Prepare the mixture by mixing ¼ cup water and ¼ cup baking soda. Let your toothbrushes stay overnight in the mixture.
Body
- We had a face scrub, but you can also make a body exfoliant in a similar way. Use this exfoliant to remove dead and dry cells that accumulate on the surface of your skin. Again, you want 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water.
- For heartburn, mix ½ teaspoon baking soda and ½ cup water. Apply this antacid solution on your skin.
- To remove your artificial tan, you need baking soda. Things can go wrong sometimes, and that applies often for artificial tans. Sometimes, you can end up with an orange skin courtesy of your self-tanner. And if you don’t want to wait for the color to fade away, use the same formula for the body exfoliant. Scrub your skin with it.
- Saying that baking soda can be used as a deodorant is a bit of an exaggeration. However, you can use baking soda to remove odors and kill bacteria, especially those living in your armpits.
- If you want to soften the skin of your hands, use a baking soda scrub again. This will scrub away odors and provide your hands with soft, smooth skin. Use the same ratio as the body exfoliant.
- Heartburn isn’t the only irritating skin condition. For your itchy skin relief, mix a teaspoon of baking soda with water. Rub this paste on your skin to relieve itchiness, no matter the cause.
- The same paste can be used to relieve insect bites as well.
- Your nails are often forgotten when it comes to skin and body care. But no more. Provide your cuticles with some love by dipping a nail brush into a paste of water and baking soda. You need the same ratio as the body exfoliant. After you dip the brush into the paste, use circular motions to apply on your hands and fingers. Rinse with lukewarm water after few minutes and then apply nail polish.
- Baking soda can also be used for a foot bath. For this homemade pedicure, you need the 3:1 ratio. Of course, you also need a big bowl in which you can soak your feet. Prepare the mixture, and then soak your feet for 10 minutes in it. Afterwards, apply lotion to your feet and legs. Wrap them with a towel, and let them sit for another 10 minutes. Use this pedicure once a week to provide your feet with relief from all the wear and tear during the week.
Home
- For your patio furniture, scatter some baking soda under the cushions to improve their durability and ensure they are odor-free.
- Clean your grill and keep it clean by putting baking soda on a damp brush and scrubbing the grate with it. Be sure to rinse afterwards.
- You can freshen your rugs by sprinkling some baking soda on them, waiting for 15 minutes, and then vacuuming. If you like, you can leave the baking soda on overnight and vacuum in the morning.
- You can remove cooking residue on pots and pans with baking soda. Shake some baking soda on them, then add hot water and dish detergent. Let the pots and pans sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then wash them as usual.
- For your laundry day, add one cup of baking soda to the next batch. The baking soda goes in with the regular liquid detergent. This will make your clothes brighter and cleaner.
- And to prepare your clothes for laundry day, you can remove the odor from the day’s use. Sprinkle some baking soda over the dirty clothes to keep them fresh until laundry day.
- You can prepare your own bathroom scrub by mixing baking soda with liquid detergent. The ratio you are looking for is ¼ cup baking soda to one tablespoon detergent. Optionally, you can add some vinegar to get a creamy, thick texture.
- When you need to clean the coffeemaker and the dishwasher, just run an empty cycle with a tablespoon of baking soda.
- You can also clean the kitchen drain with baking soda. Pour in one cup of baking soda followed by one cup of hot vinegar. This will unclog your drain instantly.
- Shine your silver in a matter of minutes. Mix baking soda and water in a 3:1 ratio. Then rub the silver with a clean sponge. Rinse and let it dry on its own.
- You can use baking soda to clean your pet’s teeth. Brushing a pet’s teeth is essential for both cats and dogs.
- Speaking of cats, you can remove odors and smells in their house. Sprinkle some baking soda in the box, and then add litter on top of it. This will keep the odor to a minimum.
- Baby clothes need gentle cleaning. Baking soda is a natural cleanser, and it also acts as a fabric softener at the same time. Just add a cup of baking soda to the laundry load.
- Baking soda is a great shoe deodorizer. Sprinkle some baking soda inside the shoes, and the smell from your sweaty shoes will disappear.
- During the winter months, scatter baking soda on the icy sidewalks. While baking soda is not as corrosive as salt, it will do the trick.
Health
- If you want to boost your exercise and workout regime, consume baking soda. Drink ½ teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of water in the morning or before your workout. The baking soda will absorb lactic acid and delay fatigue.
- To reduce ulcer pain, drink a glass of water with 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Again, baking soda will neutralize stomach acid and relieve symptoms and pain.
- To improve your kidney function, use baking soda as an alkaline substance. Baking soda will keep your pH levels balanced just by consuming a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda in the morning.
Precautions
- First of all, never exceed the recommended oral dose of baking soda, which is a maximum of ¼ teaspoon per day. Too much of it and you will experience nausea and diarrhea as a result of your upset stomach.
- High doses of baking soda are not recommended for people with high blood pressure. Baking soda will further increase your blood pressure, and can overload your circulation in some cases. To be safe, if you suffer from high blood pressure, avoid baking soda.
- Patients with edema, kidney disease, and liver disease should also avoid taking baking soda internally.
- Breastfeeding and pregnant mothers should avoid baking soda.
- Children under the age of five should not consume baking soda.
- Last, but not least, consult your doctor if you are on a sodium-restricted diet before using baking soda.
